The official site of Shounen Jump launched a special teaser page with a countdown to a “surprise” a couple of days ago, and last Saturday, the answer was finally unfolded. The super popular TV anime series Dragon Ball Z, originally authored by Akira Toriyama, is slated to have a movie and will premiere in March, 2013.
The new movie will be set between the anime Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT, which is exactly between the 517th and 518th chapters of the original manga. It’s the first time that the “lost decade” of the storyline after the end of the battle with Majin Buu would be unveiled. Kuririn, Piccolo, Vegeta, and other familiar characters will appear in the movie. It’s also emphasized that the movie is not a spinoff, but a story in the official history of Dragon Ball.
17 years has passed since the last Dragon Ball movie, this long awaited new movie will surely be a fabulous one. The author Mr.Toriyama said it’s the first time that he had ever been so deeply involved in the production of the Dragon Ball movies. Besides the great support of Mr.Toriyama, a lot of talented professionals have also joined the production.
