It’s been confirmed that Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's Bakuman manga is getting a live-action movie adaptation, which is slated to release in 2015.
The movie will be directed by Hitoshi Ōne (Moteki, Koi no Uzu/The Vortex of Love). And Takeru Satoh and Ryunosuke Kamiki will star in the movie. Takeru Satoh (live-action Kenshin's Kenshin) plays Moritaka Mashiro, a boy who aspires to be a manga artist and Ryunosuke Kamiki (live-action Kenshin's Sōjirō Seta) plays his classmate and story collaborator Akito Takagi.
Bakuman is a Japanese manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, the two creators of Death Note. The manga was serialized in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from August 11, 2008 and completed with 176 chapters in April 23, 2012. It inspired three television anime series from 2010 to 2013.
The story follows talented artist Moritaka Mashiro and aspiring writer Akito Takagi, two ninth grade boys who wish to become manga artists, with Mashiro as the artist and Takagi as the writer.
